Senate acquits former President Donald Trump in 57-43 vote on charge of inciting insurrection at U.S. Capitol

Listen, I'm not trying to belittle their deaths here and I've been trying to think of a way to actually respond to this without seeming like I'm a heartless jerkwad, but 5 people dying is just not that much of a cause for concern for the purposes of this argument. Unfortunately I think by just saying that I've already lost this argument, but it just feels like we're stretching to make an argument here which I've never been a fan of. That's not to say their lives are just some small number or statistic or something, but still. Man, it's a hard topic to approach because there really isn't a good way of touching it.

But it's also assuming that nothing will or has changed moving forward, even if Trump was elected President again. A lot has changed from a lot of different standpoints ranging from the largest providers of internet information and communication to internal handling at places such as the capitol. And a lot is still changing. And I think if Trump were likely to win again I think there would be a lot of spoken as well as unspoken preparation from across the board for that. Again, the biggest providers of internet information and communication seem pretty reluctant to give someone like that power ever again since the legal trouble of it just isn't worth it at all.

And the powers of the internet definitely played a huge role in what happened. I'm not sure Trump has the ability to heavily contribute to this kind of thing happening again. And this was over voter fraud, anyways. He can't run again if he gets elected in 2024, so there really isn't anything he can do there. It won't be another situation of him losing, because he can't lose.

And I think a huge reason why he heavily contributed, if not directly caused, this mess is because he's a literal egomaniac who literally can't mentally handle losing the popular vote of one of the most egocentrically rewarding positions in the US if not the world. I think him losing Presidency, the ultimate position for someone like him, literally broke him mentally and he simply isn't capable of handling that reality. But that's not a concern if he wins in 2024 because he can't run again after that.

There's potential there for other possible reasons of course, which is partially why I don't want to see him as President ever again, but honestly I just don't think it's too likely that we'll see something like this again. A lot has changed and it will be a very different situation. For one we'll for sure be post-pandemic as well, so there's not much there he can mishandle.

I'd expect a 2024 Trump to be very much the same as the 2017-2019 Trump. Kind of stupid, kind of annoying, mostly harmless. And it's only four years. Honestly, it might be a good thing in a way. Republican voters are absolutely bonkers crazy right now. I mean, far more than usual anyways. It would be kind of like... getting it out of their system. Maybe we'll return to normal idiocy afterwards, whereas right now I'm not sure we will for at least a solid generation, possibly two.
