I was going to school full time and working a part time job, where I had to get up at 6am for work, where I typically worked 7am to 3 or 4pm. It was a general rule in the house to be quiet after 10pm, since the house was tiny and the walls were thin. He and his friends would be playing nerdy boardgames in the living room at 11pm or midnight and were super loud. I would give them some time, like wait until 10:30, and ask them if they could try to be more quiet, since I had to get up early. The roommate was nice, but his friends were jerks. Blew me off, dismissed what I said, as if they were living there instead of me.

The roommate would also play the type of video games where you're talking to your friends on a headset while they were playing at their own home, and he would scream and shout in excitement nonstop, well into like 1 or 2 in the morning. I figured it would be common sense not to be shouting in your room in the middle of the night when people are trying to sleep, especially since his room was right next to mine.

Also, his girlfriend would stay the night a lot. I would have no problem with that, except she would squeal in laughter so much throughout the night and keep me up.

I did have some great roommate experiences before that though, due to great communication on both sides. But communicating with this guy didn't do much.
