US politicians carry on about Muslim extremists, communists etc attacking your way if life and freedoms but the real threat is clearly homegrown. It's just a distraction technique. While the people are polarised and shouting at each other from across the political divide your own governments are slowly but surely removing any equality gained by minorities. The ideology behind this culture war is scary. It's a fear of diversity. A fear of anyone who does not fit the homogeneous hetero normative image. What's even more scary is that even the gay community have become polarised and bully anyone who doesn't conform. The rhetoric is being internalised by gay men. Many gay men appear to be very anti trans, femme phobic, internalised homophobic etc. More so than in the past. People really need to stop and reflect about what kind of future they want because currently the USA is heading down a very dark path towards a theocracy/ authoritarian system.
