As you gathered, the Snake seeks and reveals the forbidden truth. There is a price to pay for such knowledge such as pain or disruption of your life. If you are into divination, occult or alternative practices, however, the Snake can be a useful reference.

If anyone uses Mystical Lenormand, the Snake is depicted as a serpent guarding the Orphic Egg which represents the source of the universe. To me, it symbolizes the power of forbidden knowledge and to be handled with care.
