Hi, i recently moved over to Hitbox in August last year, and i thought i would do my best to help you out with some of your questions.
Be able to download VODs via a website like twitchtools - I understand this isn't exactly a Hitbox feature but I've been unable to accomplish this using my normal means. Currently I have been pushing the videos to YouTube and then downloading from there.
As far as i am aware, there is no current way to download except either recording locally to your own harddrive while streaming, or doing the way you mentioned via youtube.
Automatically publish archived broadcasts - At the moment after I've finished streaming I need to manually go in to the recording, edit and save for it to become publicly visible. Is there anyway to set this to automatically publish?
I dont think so, and i personally like it this way,
Banned users - I can't seem to find the place where a list of banned users would appear, I'm not especially ban happy but I don't understand why I wouldn't be able to see this

More chat options - Previously I've used bots to prevent images / links being posted, I've also used some of the Better Twitch TV plugin options for the moderation hotkeys (p for purge, b for ban and so on) but I'm unsure if this is possible here.
Chatbots like Meowbot allow you to have extra control over chat, such as !purge or !clear etc. kind of what you are looking for.
Auto format the profile section - For someone like me who's a complete noob with markdown it's quite difficult to get images and text to look coherent on my profile section although I appreciate the Hitbox profile system offers more flexibility than Twitch.
It certainly took myself a long time to get used to markdown but it does allow for a lot more customization, my only recommendation is practice,
Internal Messaging - Having a built in message system would be great for picking up messages from viewers, I've tried to use the twitter integration instead but frequently 140 characters aren't enough.
Something they are working on as far as i know, has been suggested and i guess just a matter of time before a PM system is in place!
