What are some examples of the "Cool, but impractical" trope with the technologies found in the Haloverse?

It is an arbitrary weapon considering the technology they have available
The weapon relies on power from the wrist to control. it would be hard to handle. Why have humans not used this design if its so good? one could design it for the human hand aswell. but we have swords and spears. they are more effective and easier to control.
the gap in the middle is probably meant to disarm the opponent. however, if a sword got in there it would most likely go in the gap and cut the handle off.
the sword only has the power to kill a limited amount of enemies
the energy blades on both sides of the handle are likely to cut your wrist if you swing the sword.
its basically a worse lightsaber
