Speaking on Tandem as an Italian beginner is like cooking for Gordon Ramsey and having him critique every wrong thing about my cooking all the time

Hello there, I'm also a fellow beginner in Italian as well, so my advice to you would be studying grammar until about A2-B1 level before you start talking with native speakers. Firstly because 2 weeks is such a short period of time -- comprehension itself is hard, not to mention reproducing it through writing or speaking -- and secondly because conversation is a two way street, in order to have a substantive conversation with someone you should be able to express more than just the "basics" as you wrote.

From what I can tell you probably didn't yet learn other verb forms apart from the indicative present, but in order to understand and communicate you first need to have a grasp of at least the past and future tenses, and have a general awareness of things like the subjunctive and the impersonal pronoun.

Also, you should practice writing in your own time. I see you already posted on writestreakit so that's a good start! You should start texting native speakers when you starting to be able to spot errors in your own text or when you can identify specific gaps in your understanding.

It's easy to get discouraged when you are always being corrected, so I am giving you this advice so that you can continue on with your journey. Wish you the best!
