The difference between you and I is that I accept that my country isn't so important that people outside of it need to know the minor cultural differences between regions, whereas you seem to think that everyone must know and treat it as extremely important.

This is why I bring up your closed-mindedness. You just had a whole conversation in your head with me without me ever having said any of that. I never said America was important, I never said the cultural differences were important, and I never said that others must know about them. All I did was use an analogy to explain to you why Americans say they're from a state, that is it. American cultural identity is tied to its states, and Australia's is not. That's the difference you don't seem to want to recognize for some reason.
