Teen Mom (Research Project)

i was a teen mom. i was 18.

it was a good 20 years ago so, during the 90s when being a teen mom was all the rage. also, mtv only played music.

i will say, now that my daughter is now not a teen mom, and i attribute that to a few things.

  1. i made sure (personally) she had accurate and honest sex ed. i talked to her about it from a young age. i didnt give her no "no sex before marriage" bullshit my mother gave me and i gave her tools to deal with everything sex and relationship related and when the time came i introduced her to an obgyn, went over birth control options, she picked one and made her own appointment to get it.. (she picked the depo shot obviously)

then i stocked her with condoms, spermicide gel and i let her know i had a few plan b pills should she need one.

this strategy has been so successful i am now concerned i may never be a grandma

i bet shows like teen mom just drove home my point that being a teen mom isnt fun and easy and we have disscussed the show at lenth including the fact that the only reason these girls werent struggling to put food on the table was because mtv paid them well and that 90 percent moms of any age dont have that .. also it was a good jumping off point about the kind of man shes going to want to have a baby with and how important it is childen get a interested and involved father. the shows been pretty helpful as a talking point if nothing else.

tldr. was a teen mom, my daughter is turning 20 in 2019 and im not at all concerned that she may become a mother before she is completely ready.
