“Why don’t you just go cry happy tears?”

I cried in front of my daughter on FaceTime a few weeks back. I miss the shit out of her and my 2yo daughter. Mom and I split up so I don’t see them every day. I told her they were happy tears. They were… kinda. I’d say 60/40, 60 being sad.

Anyways, this last weekend I had them and started to tear up. I was able to keep the tears in but my 5yo still picked up on it. About ten minutes later she said in a very sassy (she’s been talking about sass lately) way “Why don’t you just go cry happy tears?” I think me crying happy tears over her secretly makes her feel good because she knows it’s a good thing. She meant it so sweet but damn did it sound like “Why don’t you just go fuckin’ cry again?”
