No. This is not the case.

That was the case for me with TurboTax (part of Intuit). When I found out my company's W-2s were online, I downloaded and clicked on the TurboTax link they were pushing on an ad for the helluvit, since they said they'd do my federal & state returns completely free. After entering Box 1, TurboTax said they could import my entire W-2 since my company partnered up with them, or somthing along those lines, and that was the only thing I had to enter at all from my W-2. I see a lot of negative reviews for TurboTax on here, but I couldn't have been happier with them this year, not to mention I'm due back more than double of what I was expecting. I did have a really easy return this year though, and I'm sure that's why I was able to get everything done for free. I was pretty surprised about them being able to import the entire W-2 like that though..
