I'm going to tell you guys a Coles Notes version of my crazy rollercoaster of a life in the past 6 months, in order to give some context to the tinnnnny Yeezy part of my story (which is literally 2 bars OF FIRE, but trust me the story is interesting :P).

  • - Near the end of last year, I created some parody OVO shirts that went viral in Toronto with Norm Kelly's head on them. (If you aren't familiar with Norm Kelly, he's a 74 year old politician in Toronto that has strong ties to Drake after he got involved in the Meek Mill/Drake beef on Twitter. He's kind of a local hero/inside joke). I called them the "6Dad'' shirts.
  • - After a Twitter storm of over 10,000 likes and slightly freaking out, my friends and I decide to start producing the shirts and work closely with Norm Kelly, and model our business model after a larger Toronto brand called Peace Collective that donates a portion of proceeds to a local charity.
  • - The shirts become so famous that my friends and I had TV interviews, newspaper features, job offers, oh yea....and cease and desist letters from OVO's lawyer.
  • - So even though we have orders from local celebrities, radio hosts, Drake's producer Boi-1-da and even some members of OVO ironically, we have to shut it down. We don't want any beef. Instead, we decide to make parody rapper bling using original art, which we dub "Charity Bling".
  • - Surprise, surprise, after Drake finds out and IG's it it goes viral AGAIN, and we have a ton of orders and more press.
  • - Everything is going great, and we are about to release a new snapback when suddenly I get a Tweet notification from Norm Kelly. It says he's in fact releasing a hat and clothing line in collaboration with...Peace Collective. And even worse, it's a pirated version of OUR LOGO.
  • - I write an open letter on Facebook after I find out they have history of plagiarism and legal issues
  • - I email them and ask them where they got the image from, but they say they've never hear of us before and that the design is a coincidence. I do some digging and FIND A PHOTO OF ONE OF THEM WEARING OUR CHAINS
  • - Absolutely fuming, I go to the press. A couple of big outlets express interest in writing the story to expose these scummy bastards, but both eventually pull the plug because it turns out they've already covered their theft from other artists in a previous article. Wow.
  • - I figure I need to step it up. These media outlets want something juicy right? So I write out a spoken-word freestyle verse a la Grind Time, plan to make a video, and market the shit out of it all in the name of parody justice.

They say 6 is up and coming yeah okay, we got Drake
Those keys unlocked the city doors Man, and I aint gotta hate
OVO respect, you keep doing your thing
Peace Collective inspect, now did you really think
We wouldn’t notice? You stole our design
And I can’t hate on Norm,
He be like "Publicity...where do I sign?"
Spoke to Detroit, they had some encouraging words
Gotta keep moving forward, if you step on a Peace of turd
It's absurd,
And you’re straight gosh darn lame
Making cheddar but you never heard of us,
While cheesing with our fuckin chains
And I feel nauseous knowing that about these pricks in the 6
I guess it’s 5 parts healthy, 1 part sick
I ain't even a graduate from Schulick but
Your business model straight sleezy -
With charity you thought stealin would be easy!

Man I was proud when you said you're repping community

But the only thing you rep is them bootleg Yeezys (shoutout Repfam)

Come on man
You can do better than this
So much talent in the city, so many creatives you missed

Start a 99designs campaign in 4 hours, Tim Ferriss

If you drew a design, and it looked like a check
We’d all tell you "just don’t do it",have some respect
There are smaller Toronto brands trying to make it out here
So much IG IP theft that even the deaf don’t wanna hear
Let me make it clear
If you asked we would said yes
But you rather lie and make an ass out of true creatives.
Guys If you’ve ever had your work stolen please comment
And remember they might take your work, but they’ll never take your talent.

And that's my story.
