There was a Lunar Eclipse the other day, I was excited but fearful of the damage that could come to my eyes. As a child, the school teachers said how dangerous it was to be out in a lunar eclipse. They even went as far as showing a PSA (public service announcement) showing a woman glancing slightly towards the sun then walked into her office building, the screen cut-a-way to an image of a retina burning from the center outward. Then went back to the woman screaming, "I'm Blind! I'm blind...". As a child that was very scary, I went years trying to not look towards the sun. I guess with more study, scientists learned that the lunar eclipse would necessarily burn up your retina, but possibly burn a spot in the back of your eye, so it would be like having a dark spot in your eye that you couldn't see around. With new information, and the pending lunar eclipse upon us. The best I could manage to do is to take a picture of the shadows of a tree with the sun light passing though the leaves. It was like seeing the eclipse without the worry of burning my eye.
