Thinking about making the switch from Skiing to Boarding, some questions!

I had a similar transition many moons ago. I went from skiing with my college ski team to skiing with my wife. She was slow compared to what I was used to, and it was aggravating to wait so much. Then she suggested that I try snowboarding, since it would slow me down while she improved her skiing. So I bought everything, and just went for it. I didn't snowboard every time, and most of my trips, I'd bring my skis too so I could switch out if I felt like it. I finally progressed to the point where I was boarding down most any hill, through bumps, etc. I wasn't good, nor did I look good, but I was at least capable of making it down the hill without falling on every run (or every turn, like in the beginning). Still, once i got the basics down, I realized I had no desire whatsoever to continue. While I'd say that while you're on the run, boarding is every bit as rewarding as a similar run on skis, the whole process of moving around in lift lines, on flats, getting off the lift, clipping back in, etc. is really annoying compared to just getting off the lift on skis, and hitting the run. So finally, I just decided that with all the annoyance, I'd rather stick with the skis. I haven't used my board in 4 years now, and I don't think I ever will again. Also, my wife is 10x better at skiing now than she was (we go 20-30 times a year, vs the 2-3 times she used to do before we started skiing together) so really, all my reasons for wanting to snowboard went away, and skiing solves all the negatives of boarding for me. I'm not trying to be a downer here, but I figured I'd share my 2 bits as someone that tried it out, but happily went back to skis. Good luck with whatever you try!
