Tory Bruno posts updated infographic claiming "Vulcan Heavy" will have greater payload capacity than Falcon Heavy

TL;DR,

There is no comparing Vulcan to any SpaceX rockets because where one is comparable in payload it is incomparable in development and vice versa.

This is r/spacex people who use this site should not encounter contempt from the mods for being fans of SpaceX. There is a reasonable middle ground between running a fanatical fan site and being cynical to the point where you can't believe anything extraordinary can happen and behave contemptuously towards people who do, and frankly I think I would prefer the former.

It is bizarre to compare Vulcan with FH in terms of development credibility, a reasonable development comparison is Vulcan to BFR, however BFR is in a super heavy category.

Development credibility (Dev-cred scale TM)

From currently flying 10. F9, Atlas V, Delta IV/IV heavy/II etc 9. 8. FH 7. F9 reusable 6. FH reusable 5. SLS 4.
3.
2. BFR, Vulcan 1. Vulcan reusable To paper rockets.

Lift categories Super Heavy SLS BFR FH Heavy; Delta IV Heavy
FH reusable, Vulcan semi reusable Medium F9, F9 reuasable

"I hope this isn't going to become some dick measuring contest" Bruno compared these rockets, not the fans, however there is no comparison. Vulcan exists like BFR exists, it is so far an idea under development, FH on the other hand has most of it's hardware and technological constituents flying, FH reusable is difficult to place on the scale but it is essentially F9 reuse times three, again out of the development league of Vulcan.

The title of this post is a comparison, so what if people here compare rockets, for some reason you come in with loaded terms like "dick measuring contest" once again showing your contempt for the people who use this site.

"most of this subreddit doesn't even have a degree yet, and has virtually no business experience. All it shows is hubris." http://www.reddit.com/r/SpaceXMasterrace/comments/2z5ydf/til_in_less_than_1_month_spacex_rockets_will_cost/ http://www.reddit.com/r/SpaceXMasterrace/comments/33nhw1/hey_guise_why_dont_spacex_just_use/

This is a SpaceX fan site and yet you seem to get offended, indeed personally wounded when you encounter enthusiastic fans.

The reality is that the entire launch industry is playing catch up with SpaceX, ULA is just another one of many pathetically trying to compete on many levels. Getting launches, getting enthusiastic engineers etc.

Without a monopoly on airforce launches ULA is out of it's league with Space X and will not survive on the marketplace without some other artificial propping.
