treatment with tacrolimus or clobetasol?

I've used both tacrolimus and clobetasol infrequently since 2014 to manage my face and scalp, respectively. Clobetasol I was able to manage using no more than 2-4 days consecutively for maybe 5-10 occurrences per year. The occurrences tend to come with some seasonality and some years worse than others. Tacrolimus I've used more frequently, maybe 2-6 times every 2-4 weeks.

Recently I've managed to switch to using salicylic acid face wash and CeraVe PM moisturizer every morning and that's been sufficient to keep my skin mostly asymptomatic over the last month. TBD whether that's coincidence. I've been able to minimize my scalp symptoms using daily Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength (active ingredient selenium sulfide) but I still have patches and flaking.

I found this sub and started looking for alternatives to clobetasol simply in part because my prescription that's lasted me years finally ran out. But I may go back to it to see if it allows me to get my scalp under control. Another large negative, as in reductive, influence on my symptoms I found have been sun exposure and/or frequent intense exercise. This is more anecdotal and should be taken with a grain of salt, but I had near complete relapse of symptoms for the first time since it began in 2013 lasting several months last summer when I was working out intensely for 1-2 hours per day and getting at least 1 hour hour of sun exposure daily (I live near Seattle). I gained more muscle mass than I'd ever had, which I've largely lost since and I now have the worst scalp outbreak I've had in a long time. My diet during the good time last year was high caloric, nutritionally sufficient garbage. Nutritional science is notoriously difficult, noisy, and underpowered, so I haven't spent much energy exploring there. Anyway, that's my experience. Hopefully that helps.
