My experience with Tacrolimus ointment

I was prescribed tacrolimus for my eczema and it worked wonders.

I had eczema when I was an infant and it randomly flamed up 20+ years later. Didn't realize what it was. Like anything, I normally just wait it out and assume it goes away. The problem or the pain almost always does. Basically, I'm an idiot.

This however? Nope. Kept shaving over it... Touching it... Scratching it... Eventually it became incredibly irritated and spread all over my cheeks, parts of the back of my neck, cheekbone area, temples, and a little on the forehead. It became noticeably red, flaky, almost pus like (though not actually pus) and there was like a second skin of some sort. Like I could literally peel off a piece of skin where the eczema was and when I touched it, the feeling was similar to if you put plastic wrap on your face. By feeling, I mean on my face and not the texture of the skin. Less feeling than normal. Not numb... You get the idea.

Anyway, gross details aside I finally gave up and went to a dermatologist. He prescribed me something else before this. The eczema was way too bad. Stuff didn't remotely work. Then I tried tacrolimus and slowly it worked. Think it took a couple months. Completely cleared all my areas except this very small portion on my cheek which sometimes flares up if I accidentally scratch it or put too hot water on the area. I'll go weeks without noticing it's there, though, until my mistake. Then I reapply the ointment and it's gone by morning.

Long story short: good stuff for eczema. It is thick and greasy, btw. The greasiness doesn't really go away either, no matter how much you rub it in or wait out. The slight shine is still worth it.
