Weekly Starting a Nonprofit Thread — week of February 14, 2021

Once I get established, I'm hoping to get some teachers to let me have some of their class time. Maybe get probation officers to count the classes towards community service hours. Ultimately, I'd like to get where we're providing participants with a small investment to incentivize participation and give participants a way to see the impacts of compound interest first hand.

I have a bachelor's in finance and experience in budgeting and financial management.

I grew up poor as shit, and I'm pretty damned convince that a huge part of the problem is poor folks thinking that things are out of reach for them. That is to say, lack of awareness of existing opportunity.

How do I get kids to show up to my initial seminars before I have an incentive? I've been thinking I can just post up with a folding table in local lower socioeconomic areas, but I have a feeling it's going to be difficult to get participants. I was thinking I can maybe get churches within the communities to let me use their facilities, to make sure the participants are able to get there.

Anyway, I welcome any criticism, ideas for the future, and especially ideas of how I can get started.
