I just had a totally weird dream about Pokemon and it might actually be an awesome game idea! The game imagined in my dream is pretty dark and would go something like that:
At the start of the game you see an epic intro of a trainer fighting an evil Pokemon with tentacles, you can see that he is hurt, has some bruises in his face and cuts here and there. He looks at his belt with all the pokeballs attached and remembers how all his Pokemons got badly defeated. Only one Pokemon left, lets go Pikachu! The scene skips and you can see Pikachu almost KO, when the Pokemon trainer looks at it and says: let´s go buddy! Pikachu uses volt tackle and the screen turns white. You wake up in your bed, saying something about your usual nightmare. Go down meet your mother and have the same conversation like at the beginning of every game. Next you go to Prof. Oak and he give you the Pokedex and your first Pokemon, telling you how great your father was and that he hopes that the monster he thought(GODMOTHER) never returns… even though he heard strange stories about disappearing Pokemon trainers, like it happened 10 years ago. From then on it seems like the typical game, catching Pokemon, leveling and defeating trainers…. until the third gym battle that is. You defeat the gym leader and get your badge. Afterward your screen starts to shake, both of you go out just to see the city being destroyed by some monster. It´s tag team time!! You think you got this, but then what is that? A LV.60 legendary Pokemon? GG … From there on you have two outcomes either both of you get defeated and you wake up at the demolished Pokemon center or you defeat it and the mysterious Pokemon gets away with some sort of shadow portal. In the first option the gym leader gets either killed or badly hurt depending on the age of the player. You go back to Prof. Oak and tell him what happened, he immediately gives you some sort of Map update, where you can see the legendary evil Pokemons movement. There are 2 of them. What is also noticeable is that there are more towns and far more gyms than usual. That´s because from that point on you have to rush through the game, get the required badges for entering the Pokemon league as fast as possible, before all the cities are destroyed(there is like a 25% chance that the gym leader gets defeated by the monsters). Obviously there will be always enough cities left to get you the badges you need, but still with every city destroyed the mysterious Pokemons get stronger in LV. After you acquire HM Fly you can fight them off in the cities that they appear in. After you have all the badges you go to the indigo plateau to fight the league. Defeat the top 4, afterward they tell you, that there is currently no master right now since the old one (your father) died. You get some sort of orb that negates whirlpools in the water. So you surf to an island that was blocked of this entire time and after a short cave puzzle you meat the end boss. THE EVIL POKEMON from the intro and his two henchmen. You start the fight one of his henchman comes out LV. 70-75, then the other one LV.70-75 and then the GODMOTHER LV.85…. Yeah baby 3 vs 1 it is. I think there should be a master ball in every game, but you can only catch the godmother when the other 2 Pokemons are defeated. You beat the godmother once and for all and there is a short outro, where you can see cities being rebuild and people celebrating over the good news.
