What are the top 5 things you wish you had known about Pensacola before you moved here?

1. People that are unhappy somewhere else are going to be unhappy here. This is not going to be the place that you come and entertainment, fun, and excitement fall in your lap. In the immortal words of Harrison Ford "It's and island babe, if you don't bring it here you will not find it here." - Think of Pensacola as an island and everything will kind of work out better for you mentally.

2. You have to learn to shed your skin a little bit. There are truck loads of things to do here but they are not what you do in a big city. In a big city you go shopping. The big names are 3 block down. Here you take a road trip, you go gamble, you go shopping, you hit the stores and restaurants a couple hours away. It is an event you share with friends.

3. You going to need to find a groove here. Slow down a little bit. Find that place in town where you fit in where you can relax and be a local. It might take some time. It might take you a couple of different place. You might have to join a couple of organizations that center around people having fun. Insert Crews/Young Professionals/etc. People here are friendly, they like to socialize, but it will not just come to you. It need to be found.

4. This place has a lot little know gems. Again, I could list them off but give it a try look around. Take some time to find out what the city is doing and has to offer. Again, Pensacola is not just about Pensacola...Look both directions for 100 miles. Everything is a couple hours away and there is so much to explore.

5. Your going to have grow your friend base. Everything her is about your pack of friends. They are the key to having fun. Not only for you but for them as well. This is a closed system and you really have to find out how to tap into it but once you do it becomes one of the best places to be.

I have lived all over the states including NYC and Cali and came back here after 12 years. It is all in what you are looking for.
