People crowd the area because it’s something to do but they don’t come to the park specifically for Simpsons.

They come for IPs like HP, Mario and LOTR.

Disney owns Simpsons and universal has to pay Disney to continue to use Simpsons in their parks. Their contract expires in 2028 and I think Universal doesn’t want to continue the contract. They’ve stopped updating that area and have stopped promoting the Simpsons area completely.

The area plus animal actors stage is huge. They could do a lot with that space. I think once the contract expires they’ll redo the area to be a Pokémon land. Pokémon is a huge draw to the park on the same level as Mario and they would not have to pay every year for the license. It would be included in their Nintendo deal.
