Im not apathetic to it all, mind you. Believe you me, I have thoughts. But they just arent of the IS/WAS LARRY REAL???? variety cause frankly, i genuinely dont care on that front.
My thoughts are this: it becomes sexual harassment when you strop respecting a human being's clearly stated personal boundaries. Flat out. I wish more people got that. Leave it on tumblr = PRECISELY. Its a bit of not realising these are real people, not characters from a series that you can ship without it effecting real people. Treating human beings like fictional characters for your own amusement is inescapably fucked up, especially when it comes to something as personal and delicate as one's sexuality, and especially especially when you are willfully ignoring that it bothers said person. A self identified gay person constantly being told he/she is in deep denial about being straight because they seem straight, they are just confused, etc., is no less presumptuous than carrying around signs shipping them in straight relationships with their friends. it's just yet another level of the absolute disrespect going on, here. it wouldnt be okay, and neither is accusing Louis or anyone else of anything they themselves havent confirmed and have even outright DENIED.
The signs. Oh, god. Im from Baltimore and was so embarrassed by how Larry-centric OTRA Baltimore was. Im also tired of them accusing others of homophobia, of equating Larry support with an all encompassing support of the LGBTQ community. No. Shipping Larryis an act of fetishization, of two attractive, young, male pop stars, and someone telling you you are crossing the line is NOT a homophobic act.
As a casual, older fan Im bombarded with it constantly, so I can only imagine how insane it must be to be the person its all centered around and directed at. Like ... the therapy required??? Its not fair, because at the end of the day its as though their sexuality, whatever it may be, isnt even their own anymore. And they have to ... just accept that. No matter what they say, it doesnt matter. If they dont respond, it means whatever others want it to. If they do respond, it also means whatever others want it to. if one of their loved ones responds, or another band mate, this also means whatever others want it to. And yet the one thing NONE of these have ever provided, is any kind of confirmation, only ever flat our denial. But that doesnt matter to these people. Theyll just create scenarios that make their theories remain plausible even in the face of all of that., because they dont ant it to NOT be true. I dont know healthy one. These guys are totally powerless over something so extremely personal to them and I just find that so, so, so shitty. God forbid one of them every does come out? They have to, after ALL of is said and done, vindicate this horribly disrespectful crap on some level if and when they do. Which sucks! Cause its not already difficult enough.
I tend to not go on this rant though cause its pointless. YOu cant get it through to people who dont want to get it. I mean, they literally have convinced themselves that the boys are sending them secret messages about their secret relationship they are being forced to hide via teddy bears. How do you even get through to someone at that point? You just kinda have to laugh while also acknowledging it is 100% beyond fucked up and thank God that these guys are fianlly getting to take a break from it all.
I dont think it is obvious they are suprsessing anything.I think they are doing what they can to maintain what little provacy they have, and people are reading into that far, far too much and its a very unhealthy cycle they are all stuck within, and thats sad because i do believe they love being a band but have come to the point of realisation that it is no longer a healthy endeavor, not just for them but for others as well.
