Real question for people actually living in NY (I never stayed there for periods longer than four weeks at a time) - how often do you run into your exes?

I ask because I was thinking about it the other day - I live in a German capital and I run into people I know (from work, former work, former uni) quite often. Although it’s a big city, the more central part of it is really where most people go (or went, pre-pandemic), so the odds of running into someone at the new vegan restaurant or the new rum bar aren’t slim. Specially if you work on / studies in a certain field.

Manhattan is objectively 5 times smaller than the city I live it - so how does this work? Do y’all run into people you know all the time?
