Which dead mall was "game over" right out of the gates?

The Palladio at Broadstone in Folsom, California. A gorgeously designed outdoor mall that opened during the recession and sat almost entirely vacant for its first few years. The market’s most dominant shopping center, the Westfield Galleria at Roseville, has Louis Vuitton and Tiffany and the like plus the only Nordstrom in the region now that the Sacramento location has closed, and has eaten the lunch of both the Palladio and Sacramento’s Arden Fair. The Palladio hobbles along with a mix of locally owned businesses and average mid-market mall stores for now, and many retailers (Forever 21, Charming Charlie, Charlotte Russe, Gymboree) have left due to bankruptcy. The main thing it has going for it is Whole Foods, which faces a parking lot and doesn’t necessarily drive traffic to the mall.
