Even Rommel was sketch. If I’m not wrong there isn’t much information about him being a “clean” general. And a lot of the post ww2 propaganda from the West was trying to find justification to arm Germany again for the cold war, and the best way to do that was to separate Germany’s military from the one of the Nazis. Obviously not every german soldier was a nazi, but the “Clean Wehrmacht” isn’t at all realistic.

• we all know the best personalities to use as propaganda are the dead ones, cause when they’re dead they can’t speak to the bad crap they’ve done. Just look at George Washington (slave owner who found loopholes in US laws to avoid freeing his slaves) and Gandhi (a misogynist and bad husband/father) as other good examples.
