These weekly posts chastising 40k fans for their taste in factions are beyond tiresome at this point. They’re an obvious attempt at enforcing a certain extreme political view on things that is not welcome to anyone with sense. We all know fascism is very bad, but this is a game. It’s not real and we don’t need to be told it would be a horrible place to live, nobody thinks it is. We don’t want to be lectured and browbeaten because we think certain factions are cool. No fans actually want to live in the imperium, no matter how many peak reddit comments here claim. They’re people role playing or being silly. Also I highly doubt the tiny handful of actual fascists would want to live in the 40k imperium either, because it’s absolutely horrible and makes any real historical regime look like a holiday in comparison. It’s not a “ fascist dogwhistle” or any other stupid buzzwords that someone shouted “for the emperor” in their casual game with friends. It’s just people playing a nerdy table top game and having fun. Do you also go after the empire in star wars legion, regimes in dune, thalmor in elder scrolls etc etc too? What about historical war-gamers playing actual real fascists? We don’t need to do a self criticism and struggle session after every game because we dared to have fun playing as the imperium or any other morally bankrupt fictional faction in 40k. Let’s just stop trying to lecture and control people with the soviet-esque obsession with “fascism everywhere!” and let us have fun playing with our toy soldiers, thanks.
