Yoga after surgery?

Do you practice meditation? I would lean more into that practice if you do. Everyone heals up at different rates, and while I haven’t had chest surgery, I’ve had an appendectomy and a csection, that I continued to practice yoga afterwards. My app was laparoscopically and healing was a breeze, I was back to a full practice the day after my doc cleared me at 4 weeks. I healed quickly from the c/s too, but my yoga practice came back much slower. I imagine a more invasive surgery like you’re having, being similar in full recovery time to that c/s. I could gently practice at around 6 weeks, and at that point it was more passive restorative and yin, yin is really great for recovering lost flexibility that happens with abdominal and chest surgeries. The body naturally wants to draw in for protection. It took me about 4 months post c/s to be able to have a heavy vinyasa type practice or feel comfortable doing inversions.

I know it’s not exactly the same but I have a friend who has a yoga YouTube channel. She had a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction. She has some classes on her channel and talks about regaining mobility after the surgeries. I can PM you her channel if you’d like. She is really sweet and I’m sure she’d have some suggestions if you reached out to her too.
