[Youtube] Guns break down way too fast in H1Z1

100% disagree, things need to break FASTER.

Currently there is a LOT of hoarding going on, but it's limited to the % who are very confident in their ground stashes.

Once bases are implemented correctly, people on a large scale will pick up and store much more, hoarding weapons and whatever else they can find in their bases and chests.

Hoarding resources in a survival video game is expected, but if SoE are tying in respawns to current item limits, we run into problems.

If they up the item limits or make them last longer with higher durability to counter this, the servers get flooded in loot.

This will force one of the two problems we have already run into in this alpha - too little loot, and too much loot. The too little loot is a problem as no one wants to go exploring, risking death, for zero reward in terms of non PvP drops.

On the other hand, once players have everything, all that is left is PvP, which is fine, but the ease of which players attain this "everything" status and switch to the only thing left (pvp) will be too high and cause burnout.

If everyone is sitting in their bases, fully geared, with no incentive to risk everything by leaving, barring some massive new injection into the game like PvE, people will get bored (this is literally the current endgame right now - I've already seen people stop playing due to having reached it - they have all the gear, have killed dozens of players, and are now bored as they don't need anything. Even if they die their stashes have enough to refurbish them for a dozen more deaths)

On the other hand, low durability and a high decay rate give the message to the player that everything they have will be gone shortly. Easy come, easy go, promoting recycling of in game items, forcing player movement for loot, and really making the game what it is.

So in summary, this game will fail or thrive on its ability to force players to constantly go on runs for items and weapons, and SoE need to find that sweet spot, the Goldilocks Zone where people have things, but are breaking them at rates that requires people to refresh their stocks constantly.
