Zelda Ocarina of Time: Dad Humor - PART 30 - Game Grumps

Teachers should seriously be a person a kid could look to as a friend. I had a pretty complicated childhood which lead me to be adopted. While my Grandfather was a great man he lost his Parents when he was very young so he didn't really know how to communicate with his young children. I never blamed him. But at that age I was scared to bother him or any adult with what was going on in my head. I had no real out. Grandmother was dealing with my Mother and Grandfather's "personalities". My Aunt sorta helped. So Home was really awkward and emotionally unstable for everyone.

When it came time to go to School I was diagnosed with a Learning Disability. I caught on slower then other kids but once I had it I had it and it good. But the kids found out and teased me for it despite aside from that I was normal. So Home and School sucked. But the one person who helped me push through my young years was Mr.Burg.

Mr.Burg was my 4th Grade Teacher who was really kind and cared a lot about children. He always told me "Just because you have to work harder doesn't make you not normal. Be yourself and you'll find real friends." Which has stuck with me since I was young to where I am now. I feel bad because I feel like as a kid I took advantage of his kindess not for malicious intentions though. Just the fact a Male Adult figure was expressing such kindness to me.

Sometimes I'd be sent to School with a very small lunch. Crackers and Peanutbutter with a Juicie Juice Juice-Box. Sometimes a water. I'd eat light and would still be hungry. This went on for a few months while in School until he noticed. I tried the School Lunches a few times but they'd usually make me sick so I couldn't eat them. He'd order me a small pizza from Papa Romaones to eat every once in a while and would tell me to eat my lunch in class while he helped me with what ever subject I was struggling with or just gave me lessons on history and what not. Its probably why I love Educational things as much as I do today.

I wanted to maintain our friendship but He said he was moving after I left his class. Not sure if it was China or Japan. But he moved. But I'll never forget his impression on me. I know I'll never forget his face.

Sorry for the long story but TL;DR: Teachers, you never know how much of an enfluence you can have on your Students. Sure some are snotnosed brats and on rare occasions some are rotten to the core. But try to exert kindness to all your students in my opinion.
