I’m so tired of older people, of which I am one, calling the younger demographic lazy with no work ethic. I’m sorry you didn’t get what you ordered at the drive through where the worker is likely making a wage that cannot sustain their life. Mistakes happen. Next time, stop before you leave, check your order quick, and say “excuse me, I appreciate that you’re providing a service to me that I’m not entitled to and that is a luxury. I noticed a few things wrong, when you have a second, would you mind fixing them for me?”

I’ve worked in corporate America for years and each round of young people that we bring in is better, more innovative, and harder working than the last. The world is moving away from the notion that success = working yourself to death, and thank goodness it is.

The younger generation honestly has so much more to juggle than we did. Societal pressures have drastically increased and the ability to succeed and get ahead is nearly impossible. An entry level corporate position when I started was more than enough to buy a house, a car, raise a family, afford a vacation or two a year. Corporate stating salaries now require a roommate and a hoping that you don’t need to go to the doctor this year - through absolutely no fault of the young people. Things have changed drastically and we don’t give young people enough credit.
