2 victims in Oxford high school shooting use Geoffrey Fieger to file $100 million lawsuit against district, employees

Just like being struck by lightning, it’s not entirely preventable but we can decrease the likelihood. The obvious place to start, what a lot of people are talking about, are stricter laws that keep guns out of the hands of children and mentally unstable people. But I think we also need a change in our culture. We have a society in America that glorifies violence and vengeance. People are angrier and nastier to each other than they’ve ever been and it boils down to a lack of respectful communication. Through the twentieth century materialism has slowly replaced our respect for psychiatric curiosity, spiritual health, and respect for anyone not instrumental to our own ends. Destruction combined with hedonism, nihilism, even solipsism is what’s cool. Also, u/bit_a_biscuit, remember where that money will come from. Probably not out of the pockets of the people who failed to adequately respond to the shooters blatantly obvious warning signs.
