.308 price question

Right now it's a much better value than 556 or 223. If you hand load it's a pretty good bargain if you are lucky to find primers. You'll be paying about 20 cpr for the bullet for fmj 147/150/155 gr, about 15-20 cpr for powder assuming average 40 grains and you pay $30 per pound, you can find bulk range brass 7.52x51 for 10 cpr and primers are 4-10 cpr depending if regular or bench rest.

You can reuse brass at least a few times if it cycles nicely and you don't get a lot of ejector marks.

So you can realistically reload M80 clone for like 50 cpr while you can't find any legit M80 cheaper than 80 cpr..

When you start talking about 308 you're paying mostly $1.20 per round at least from a box right now. If you wanted to make match ammo you'd spend a little more on brass I'd say 40 cpr - 80 cpr from winchester to Lapua, about 30-60 cpr for bullets from 175 smk to your hunting projectile. So realistically you can clone federal gold match for like 70 - 80 cpr depending how your brass looks
