After 8 months of Sun&Moon, how do the games hold up?

Things I liked

  • The overall plot. I may have a few issues here and there (The lack of interaction between Plumeria and Guzma at all, Lillie being shoved in our face as a helpless waifu character, how the pacing goes to shit after Ula Ula etc) but OVERALL I still think the plot is one of the stronger ones in the series.

  • The Soundtrack. Second best soundtrack in the series. Guzma's battle theme is godly, and Vast Poni Canyon is the best Dungeon track on the series.

Things I disliked

  • Complete lack of any good dungeons. Vast Poni Canyon was ALMOST good, but then they decided to shove Lillie into it and have her railroad you and forcibly heal you 4 times through it without your consent. The other Dungeons all feel like tours, rather than adventures.

  • There was no excuse not to have a good Victory Road. An NPC on Mount Lanakila (Which means Victory in Hawaian by the way, so don't give me that bull about Vast Poni Canyon being Victory Road) litteraly says Kukui called all the people who had beaten the trials, leading me to expect a Gauntlet battle against the Trial captains along the way.

  • The Battle and party screen UI. (Need to clarify, I like the QOL changes, I'm talking about the general asthetic) I hate the paint splashes and the way they tried too hard to make it Hawaiian. I don't care if its thematically appropriate, I think it looks ugly and I prefer the mo (I played Persona 5 recently, so maybe due it being a beautiful gift from god its now ruined other games for me in the style department)

  • I dislike how they aren't even trying to make the games complete anymore. Like yeah, first games always have less content, but for example Black and White didn't have any areas that looked conspicuously unfinished. XY and SM are ripe with areas that were clearly meant to have some sort of purpose or be explorable, but aren't and are left in the game unfinished.
