Oh don’t misunderstand me. I would never rate a gift poorly if it had the kind of thought you put into it with the beautiful handwritten notes. Cost shouldn’t matter (it doesn’t to me). It’s all about being thoughtful. I’ve definitely rated gifts poorly when someone has sent something that is unrelated to anything I said I was interested in and it’s clear they hopped on Amazon at the deadline and sent something without putting any effort or thought into it. But that’s how I know one low rating doesn’t affect a person’s account, I’ve (ironically) gotten someone I rated poorly as my giftee in a subsequent exchange.
I have no idea why you were able to sign up but it does seem like Reddit gifts doesn’t weed people out until matching (people that haven’t linked their Reddit account or verified their email etc.). The system needs to be adjusted for sure.
I would appeal to the support team. If there’s nothing you’re holding back it does seem odd you were banned.
