I def think so, the tone of her comments makes it a lot less popular-girl admiration and a lot more lusty-want. It's just there's too many other life factors for her to worry about that question.

I feel like that's the thing often avoided in ra ra lgbt type discussions--the fact that someone's sexuality isn't the first thing on the adult-life priority list when life is pretty hard to stabilize as is. Maybe this is partly why bi folks get a bad rap, since it's often so much more complicated to invest in a same sex relationship, it's such a small dating pool, and it's a more difficult to learn the ropes of the local dating culture, that the only reason to go through all of that is for someone you're already fallen in love with :)

Otherwise, 'exploring your sexuality' just 'because' well... past college years and once a real career gets going, aint no one got time for that. Maybe gay men have it easier joining in at whatever age, but I reckon it's a lot harder for a girl like Amy to jump back into any dating scene.

Amy's started so far down the line on adult socialization, that she's just begun being proud of maintaining even friendships. she's a scientist which in real life is super stressful and time consuming, and she still hasn't figured out the power struggles in her several year hetero relationship, despite having an entire society of social conventions to back her up! The frustration being played for laughs is becoming tragic.

I can't even imagine how happy Amy might be if she found someone, man or woman, who was actually excited about being in a relationship with her! Actually excited to sleep with her, live together, plan a future.

She's in her thirties and she has to beg for kisses and hugs? This episode made it clear she's also thinking about children. I mean, there's something sadly unfeminist about a smart scientist being reduced to a pouty child craving affection by her begrudging boyfriend. If she wasn't in love with Sheldon as a person, I'd think she'd be a lot closer to what she wanted for herself. Girl is writing steamy angsty fanfiction and is still a virgin, sheesh!
