Off topic, but covert incest is my favorite thing to read about in regard to the “man of the house” thing. Lots of parents will leave a child to fill the role of a spouse, emotionally usually. So they’ll refer to them as such, their relationship is strained with the other parent, and cuz of this sexually charged emotional energy the parent is putting on the kid, they tend to grow up not really understanding that emotionally they were taken advantage of. Family dynamics can go wrong so fast. It’s sad. Nothing to do with your situation - just thought about it and wanted to promote awareness of it.
