Why angry joe's review on this game is dead wrong!

It's fine to have an opinion, and it's fine to disagree with others' opinions. However, you state that Angry Joe's opinion is "dead wrong," which is an objective judgment. So, you'll certainly have no problem with me telling you that your opinion is also "dead wrong."

From the perspective of ludology, game design philosophy, and objective analysis, this is not a great game. That's not to say it can't be entertaining and fun, but if you treat gaming as an art, which I and many others do, Hardline is not a masterpiece by any standards. Hardline is for all intents and purposes a themed mod of Battlefield 4. The single player is basically every cliched cop drama, lacks originality, and is almost devoid of creativity. The only thing that saves it is the television series presentation and voice acting.

The multiplayer lacks most of the gameplay design elements that have been the bread and butter of the Battlefield franchise. Where Call of Duty is more about fast-paced action, Battlefield has typically been about strategy, tactics, teamwork, objectives, and playing a large-scale warfare scenario on a large map with different weapons, class equipment, and land, sea, and air vehicles. Hardline has taken an obvious departure from much of this. Many maps are, at best, medium size, there aren't always many useful opportunities to use class equipment, but at least the vehicles are fine for the most part.

A lot of maps are designed in such a way that they very quickly turn into a clusterfuck where everyone plays team deathmatch because there's no real incentive to play the objective. Or, you just end up getting spawn camped because whichever team takes the middle of the map first has an easily defensible position and fighting your way out is nearly impossible.

Some of the game modes feel incomplete. The story behind Hotwire is that the cops are trying to stop the criminals from stealing the cars, so shouldn't each team be returning the objective cars to their spawns? As it is right now, the point of Hotwire is literally to drive in circles waiting to take an RPG through the windshield. Blood Money is actually a really nice idea, but like I said most people end up playing TDM. If the objective was meaningful then people would play it. Team deathmatch is pretty much useless because you constantly spawn to instantly die; the winning team has the most lucky players.

Generally, there's no real opportunity to excel through skill and mastery, nor do strategy and tactics play much of a role. Ultimately, Hardline is an offshoot of the main series and is probably its own franchise, like Bad Company, and chances are the only reason they put "Battlefield" in the title is for marketing purposes. The game could've been much better if they'd made it its own IP. It's similar enough to Battlefield 4 for it to be familiar to franchise veterans, but it's also similar enough to Call of Duty to attract a wider audience.

I have fun playing it, but there's no feeling of reward or achievement playing it. It's fine to have your own opinion, but don't tell others their opinions are "dead wrong" because you disagree.

In before downvotes from biased Hardline fans that don't know what ludology is.
