Has anyone here actually beat Contra 3 or the Star Wars games?

I totally agree! There are so many things in games I've done that seemed impossible at first but after a week or two of trying you look back and realize how much things have slowed down and your anticipation improves as you begin to learn the exact timing of how everything works. Even your errors become teachable as you begin to learn, "Oh, that happened because I pressed the button too late." "That thing happens when I jump too early" etc.

I remember Wild Guns being a game I assumed I could never beat without years of mastering but over the course of a couple weeks I learned the game so well I ended up getting 100% on the trophies for the remake and I was completing runs without continues with each character on Hard. Your strategies develop and tune over time and before you know it you have a method for every section.
