In Tombstone (1993) Val Kilmer had the art department fill his deathbed with ice which he laid on. Not only to shake more in the performance but to create a pain equal to what Doc might have felt saying goodbye to his best friend.

So take this with a grain of salt….

The famous quote of “I will be your huckleberry” is not accurate in regard to what it really means. I’m too lazy to do the research beyond the following. What was really meant to be said was “I’m not your huckle bearer”.

A huckle bearer refers to the handles on a coffin which are called “huckles”.

Which makes perfect sense in regard to the movie and the situation in which the line was delivered “I’m not your Huckleberry” - “I’m not your huckle bearer”.

Maybe I’m wrong and someone who has intimate ties to the original script can chime in. I just remember reading somewhere that it changed from huckle to huckleberry at some point and huckleberry stuck.
