It is absolutely disgusting that people are optimistic. A very substantial portion of the r/islam sub is pretending the Taliban will turn Afghanistan in a model Islamic state for instance.

And it's not just because of their treatment of women. Imagine if an extremist white nationalist group, responsible for massacres of thousands of Muslims, grabbed power in a Western country. Imagine if white Christians would then be optimistic of the country's future because there were promises of treating people right according to Christianity.

This is what an official said after the Taliban murdered thousands of civilian Shia Hazara. "Hazaras are not Muslim, they are Shia. They are kofr... If you do not show your loyalty, we will burn your houses, and we will kill you. You either accept to be Muslims or leave Afghanistan."
