Are drops vanilla on slashdiablo?

I meant current 1.13d. Wall of text inc! You probably know most of this, but you brought it up, so eh.

For sure the drops have been substantially improved, but if you were to play completely self-found on a ladder, I'm doubtful most people, even with some pretty serious farming, would ever acquire stuff like Enigma.

I mean, uncommon drops happen for sure - just an hour or two ago I was playing my SP Hammerdin doing normal diablo trying to get magefist (been at it for just a few hours) - still no magefist but I got an SoJ... (Odds with /players 8 and my MF was roughly 1:4500, compared to 1:250 for magefist...)

And that's pretty rare. The odds on an Ist from hell countess is about 1:1000 (roughly), and that's only an Ist. If you were to keep at it and try to get an enigma by cubing those, god help you. If you were to do other farming, you have to get pretty damn lucky to get both Jah and Ber within reasonable time, but naturally you may find other interesting items while doing so.

"Reasonable time" of course varies by person, but the odds of a Ber dropping from Meph, Diablo and Baal on hell are 1:246000 in a 1 player game and 1:200000 in an 8 player game (according to dropcalc).

From regular hell cows, it's 1:2,9mil, for reference.

The reason most high-end items were at all attainable by most players during the heydays were because of botting and duping. I don't think it's news to most people that 99% of the gear they traded for was duped. To some extent I actually think that as messed up as D2 got and is with advertisements, bots jumping into your games, et cetera, without them people wouldn't have as fond memories of D2 as they have. The majority of players wouldn't have ever gotten their hands on any interesting loot.

That said, of course many builds are powerful enough that you don't need the crazy high end loot to get through the game and start farming for upgrades, but I personally just enjoy teleporting on my paladin while looking for stuff.

Tl;dr: Yes, droprates are improved. By how much, I actually don't know, but I know it's substantial. Still doesn't make the high rune droprates acceptable unless you're incredibly hardcore and have a fuckton of time on your hands.
