Why are the software centers of the most common distributions and DE, so buggy and slow?

While this is true, is there a real necessity to do so? I think ChromeOS or CloudReady (which Google recently acquired) is a better choice for the average person. Like Android, they use the Linux kernel underneath the hood with some driver changes, with a bunch of Google stuff on top.

To me, it makes a lot more sense for Apple, Microsoft and Google to want more market share, because they're companies. Often there are advertisements that make money. Google makes 200m from Chromebooks.

The thing about personal computers too is that mobile is more popular now:

It seems that around mid-2016, Mobile usage overtook desktop usage.
