It's actually pretty great in impoppable. The thing is, impoppable for non expert maps, it's usually pretty easy to farm the early game with something simple like ninja alch. The only difficult part, in my experience, is preparing for ddts, fortified blimps, and super ceramics post 90. Usually this means saving for a tier 5 tower and trying to survive til then with good placement and ability uses.

Enter action figure. Now you can do pretty much any strategy you want early on without worrying about late game potential. Bc at 90 you sell that action figure and buy yourself a ray of doom or a dark champion.

The reason it's good for impoppable is it lets you do strategies that work early game, ie lots of tier 3/4 towers, but that would then otherwise die to ddts and fortified blimps. There's no moment of weakness where you are trying to save 50k for a tier 5 heli.
