We must considered the following when we try to prove he is not guilty:

If Steven Avery is NOT guilty then Steven did not sexually assault Teresa and Steven did not murder Teresa and Steven did not sexually assault Teresa and Brendan did not witness a murder and Brendan did not see Teresa in Steven's trailer and Brendan did not sexually assault Teresa and Brendan does not know who the murderer is and Steven did not put a body in the bonfire and Brendan did not see bones in the bonfire and Steven and Brendan removed oil and not blood with bleach in the garage and Brendan's confession is fabricated and Brendan's confession is false and the real murderer framed Steven AND framed Brendan. thus Brendan is NOT guilty. and Brendan's confession CANNOT be used as evidence of what happened on 31 October

If the real murderer killed Teresa then the real murderer knew the salvage yard layout and access roads to it and Steven phoned AutoTrade and requested that Teresa come to the salvage yard on 31 October and knew that Teresa left a message on Barb Jandas's answering machine saying she will be there after 2:00 PM or later, and to phone her back and knew that Steven phoned her back and arranged the appointment and the time and knew when Teresa arrived at Steven's trailer and knew when Teresa left Steven's trailer and had access to Steven's trailer and garage and had access to Steven's blood and had access to Steven's DNA from a non-blood source and had access to Steven's rifle and knew that Steven cut his finger and knew that Steven was going to have a bonfire on 31 October and knew that Brendan's friends were going to be at the bonfire, but cancelled and watched Steven's bonfire and new he used steel-belt radial tires to fuel the fire and new that Steven was at the burn barrel and that there were other people who saw him at the barrel so they could dump her cellphone etc. in the barrel and collected Steven's rifle from his trailer and shot Teresa with Steven's rifle and didn't collect blood from Teresa's body to frame Steven because they didn't think of it and didn't collect pubic hair from Teresa's body to frame Steven because they didn't think of it and didn't collect scalp hair from Teresa's body to frame Steven because they didn't think of it and collected only a small amount of non-blood DNA from Teresa's body to frame Steven and collected two bullet fragments from the murder location and preserved it to frame Steven and burnt Teresa's body somewhere else after 31 October 2005 11:00 PM, using steel-belt radial tires to fuel the fire and returned Steven's rifle to his trailer and couldn't plant pubic hair and scalp hair in Steven's trailer and garage since they didn't collect any from Teresa's body and couldn't plant DNA in Steven's trailer and garage since they didn't collect enough DNA from Teresa and parked Teresa's vehicle in the scrap yard, removed the key and locked the vehicle since it would be better to plant the key after the police had searched Steven's trailer a couple of times and didn't plant Steven's non-blood DNA inside the vehicle because they didn't think of it and disconnected the battery so that it's proof that Steven opened the hood, so that they can plant non-blood DNA under the hood and planted Teresa's remains at the burn pit and his sister's burn barrel after 31 October 2005 11:00 PM because it's more proof that he did it than dumping it all in Steven's burn pit and didn't plant the preserved bullet fragments in Steven's garage in November 2005 since they didn't think of doing it and couldn't plant pubic hair and scalp hair in Steven's trailer and garage in November 2005 since they didn't collect any from Teresa's body and couldn't plant DNA in Steven's trailer and garage in November 2005 since they didn't collect enough non-blood DNA from Teresa and didn't know that Brendan was going to confess to witnessing an imaginary murder 3 months later and waited until Brendan's fabricated confession before they planted the next piece of evidence and controlled Brendan's interrogators and had access to Brendan's interrogations and planted two of the preserved bullet fragments in Steven's garage in March 2006 after Brendan's fabricated confession and told Brendan's interrogators to coerce Brendan more to confess to a pre-planned sequence of events, although they lacked evidence to plant and couldn't plant blood in Steven's trailer and garage in March 2006 after Brendan's confession since they didn't collect any from Teresa's body and couldn't plant pubic hair and scalp hair in Steven's trailer and garage in March 2006 after Brendan's confession since they didn't collect any from Teresa's body and couldn't plant DNA in Steven's trailer and garage in March 2006 after Brendan's confession since they didn't collect enough DNA from Teresa but successfully framed Steven and Brendan.

To pull this off the real murderer must have spent a considerable amount of effort on information gathering and planning on 31 October 2005 to execute the plan, considering the time frame that was available to do it in.

It is impossible to explain why the murderer(s) did not collect the most damning evidence that is so easy to obtain, it's even visible to the naked eye. If the murderer(s) had the ability to plant Teresa's DNA, without contamination, then it would be the easiest thing for him/them to plant e.g. pubic hair. It points to the undeniable fact that whoever planted it, was clued up about damning evidence, but to dumb to think of the most damning evidence - I don't buy that. I suppose the reply would now be, he was framed by more than one, planting their different pieces of evidence.

Any theory that Steven is not guilty (if there is one) must be based on all existing evidence (EXCLUDING Brendan's confession that relate to the murder, murderer or sexual assault) - I haven't seen a single theory connecting all the pieces of evidence into a plausible sequence of events to prove his innocence.

There are numerous discussions based on one, or a few pieces of evidence, taken in isolation, to prove Steven is not guilty, but unfortunately you cannot reconstruct the events from 31 October using that method.
