Being forced to stay an hour past my shift?

The stores i have worked at (all within the same patch, owned by a franchisee whose stores are in the top 5% of Australia) are all exactly the same as that. Before your finish time you are expected to ask the manager what needs to be done and do those jobs before you leave. If you want to go home instead of doing them, warning sheet and expect your shifts to be cut for the next few weeks at least. Ask a manager and they will say the same, 'its just what you have to do if you want to work here.' Getting paid as a crew person I run manager shifts and am forced to be there an hour early unpaid and stay after my shift ends to finish paperwork. No bonus, no incentive pay, regular crew pay. My store manager told me 'if you want to become a manager this is what you have to do'. Our supervisor told my partner, a manager, that if he doesnt want to come the hour early they can just give him the minimum hours they have to legally or less. And they purposely cut our roster so that we are understaffed and struggle constantly so that we have to help out for free or our workmates get completely fucked over. My advice would be to get in contact with the union (if that is a thing where you are) and ask what they think you should do, if there is anything they can do. Or do what I'm going to finally do after 3 years and get in contact with head office to let them know all that shit is going on. In my experience, head office don't actually know that these things are happening. Because our stores results are so good and are so profitable (because of the free labour we put in, cutting corners on costs etc) we are told when head office will be coming, so they can prepare and have the proper amount of people on. I've been told that there is actually a minumum staff amount you can have on also. Which i doubt we follow. Send head office a nice email letting them know or call them preferably. I fucking hate working at mcdonalds. Get a new job.
