A W series can be had for cheaper than a T460s.. and a P50 can be had for only £300-350 on auction.

T460s on Facebook marketplace for $175 that will do everything he needs. A W series and P series will be total overkill.

How is a W series or P series overkill for video editing?

They said they also wanted photoshop, along with backup storage (implies a 2nd drive may be of benefit), and ideally some gaming.

The T460s is great, but it doesn't really fit the applications they are mentioning, it won't run the game they mentioned [without stuttering / above 30fps], it's frustrating to do any video editing on 2C4T CPU's on anything above 720p like on the T460s, and the color accuracy won't be as good (they said they wanted a decent screen & photoshop).
