Can somebody answer a few questions about the politics of Bulgaria?

What are the main parties and what do they stand for?

BSP: formerly Communist, claims to have evolved into a Social Democratic party. In reality some of its most prominent members and their children are Bulgaria's riches industrialists (oh the irony). It's a pro-Russian puppet. GERB: claims to be in the center-right political specter, in reality it's festering with former Communists. Openly pro-US and pro-EU, at least on paper. Their leader and current Prime Minister is a former personal bodyguard to the Communist dictator. DPS: center. A party that's mostly comprised of ethnic Turks who have a history of terrorist activities against the Communists (in retaliation for what the Communists did to the Bulgarian Turks in the 1980s.). Claims to be a liberal pro-European party. They ruthlessly exploit the Bulgarian Turks by telling them no one else will ever care about them/defend their interests etc. They get zero votes from educated young Bulgarians and the bulk of the votes of the Turks. All major parties shamelessly buy Roma votes. (The Roma are notorious for their willingness to sell their votes to the highest bidder)

Are there any movements/parties which are gaining momentum? Eh, political parties in Bulgaria are created and disbanded on a daily basis. What are the most important issues for Bulgarians when deciding who to vote for? The issues any other voter finds important: taxes, wages, crime, social security, etc.

How has the political landscape changed over the last 10 years? Sergei Stanishev (BSP) was Prime Minister during the Triple Coalition (BSP, DPS, and the party of the former king) government (2005–2009) Bulgaria joined the EU in 2007. Most commentators agree that the country was allowed in without fully covering all the requirements. 2009-2013: GERB minority government ended by nationwide protests. 2013: a provisional government took charge for three months until new elections were held. the results led to a standstill. 2013-2014: a BSP/DPS coalition government. Massive protests. New caretaker government and new elections. Since November 2014: a GERB/Reformist block coalition government (aka Second Borisov cabinet, because the aforementioned former bodyguard ruled in 2009-2013)

In terms of foreign policy, what do Bulgarians care about? Most of us want peace, i.e. no foreign entanglements. There is a traditional pro-Russia/anti-Russia divide which I find extremely unproductive.
