Cold S2E10 spoilers-allowed discussion thread

I just finished episode 10 after starting the second season yesterday. I'll take the fuzzy tape recordings over Steve Chantrey any day.

Sociopaths like Doug Lovell will literally say anything if they think it will benefit them at the moment. He only pled guilty to avoid the death penalty. I don't believe the story he told Jared Briggs.

I work with people who have allegedly done really bad things but my scope of practice is well-defined so I just stick to that and don't take anything personally.

Why is Doug Lovell getting a new trial? It isn't because Judge Taylor used an outdated version the rule 11. It is because these defense lawyers took the time to review the minutiae, find the rule 11 discrepancy, and make the appeal. The third appeal.

There are plenty of black and brown people who did not plead guilty or confess but are nonetheless sitting on death row. These persons could use lawyers to review their cases and advocate for their legal rights to a fair trial.
