A smartphone is not $50. If a film producer can live without a cell phone, other people can too. And I didn't realize 6th graders had such important matters to attend to that they need a smartphone. I didn't have one as a kid and I was fine, I went home or to the library after school to use the internet. I'm just tired of people in society making excuses for buying nice phones, fancy cars, when they really don't have the income to support it. Bottom line that's what it is. I don't think it's MAKING them struggle, it's that the price of a smartphone, which you pay for every month after buying the phone so I really don't know where $50 came from, doesn't make sense to make a higher priority than getting FOOD on the table. THAT'S fucked up, especially if someone has a family and isn't feeding their kids properly cause they want a cool phone. You can do whatever you want with your money, but don't come crying on the internet because you can't sort out your priorities properly.

You can make calls on a regular cell phone, you do not need a smartphone for that! There is a difference so your example about your friend makes no sense. How would they CALL him at the library? You do not need the internet to make a call.
