Controversy (My thoughts)

I just found out about this situation, and it did piss me off because Dr. Mike was hypocritical and apparently will not address this on his main channel. Unlike a lot of other celebrities though, what Dr. Mike was not illegal, because it happened in Florida, where cities are not even allowed to penalize people for not wearing masks due to Governor DeSantis’ Executive Order. It does not change how Dr. Mike is a hypocrite, because he advocates for people to follow CDC Guidelines, which have a higher standard than that imposed by Florida law. However, at the very least, this does seem different from those other celebrities who party in violation of the law, particularly with California YouTubers.

Does it really matter that a doctor broke CDC Guidelines (he advocates for) but not the law? Not really, because the issue is the doctor’s credibility, but, hypothetically, is there a difference between a celebrity who has a boat party — without masks or social distancing — in California or New York versus Florida? Well, one set is illegal activity while another is not, and that is a big difference.
